ELOD Team: This is how we imagine Dong Hua and Feng Jiu's children in the future when they are semi grown up! Cold handsome silver haired Bai Gun Gun with a cool intelligent attitude, and a mischievous rascal of a Princess. We hope you enjoy the story from Star Lord, Si Ming's point of view. The story is written by SC2019 with input from the ELOD team and some members of the ELOD Soompi forum.

If someone asked me, Star Lord Si Ming, whether Dong Hua Di Jun favours one child over the other, I personally think Dong Hua Di Jun does indeed favour his daughter over his son.

A few days ago, I overheard Lian Song asking Di Jun what his daughter had done to provoke A Li so badly that some buildings and structures in the Nine Heavens had to undergo major repairs and refurbishing.

Lian Song had travelled to the Northern Sea to visit his brother, Sang Ji and had returned to his palace only to find that his pavilion had collapsed and later received news that Xi Wu Palace had half it’s roof missing from the main hall.

According to his aide, Tian Bu, all that destruction was due to A Li, who had been giving chase to Di Jun’s precious nine-tailed fox daughter in full black dragon glory.

Dong Hua, who was in the midst of a Go game with Lian Song, looked up, swirled his teacup and took a sip before replying, ‘Oh, haven’t you heard from Si Ming already?’

Who does Di Jun think I am, I thought to myself as I heard his reply. Does he think I am the go-to person for all the latest news?

The old man then gave his usual cynical smile, before proceeding to explain that his daughter had started the trouble by playing a prank on her uncle (or nephew, depending on which side of the family tree), A Li.

And so this was how the big chase started.

A Li was teaching the errant girl how to cook in the kitchen of Xi Wu Palace, a skill he had picked up from his father, former Crown Prince, Ye Hua and the current Tian Jun. And cook she did - a sweet and sour fish dish with lots of spicy peppers which she tricked A Li into tasting.

[I might add that I had a bad feeling of deja vu when I heard about the fish.]

The poor lad was given such an unbearable dose of spiciness that it got him all riled up which led to him chasing his niece (or aunt, if you prefer) throughout several levels of Nine Heavens.

In trying to get away from her uncle (or nephew), she turned into her nine-tailed fox form and caused such havoc during the chase that she destroyed some of the Heavenly Lords’ property.

Finally her brother, Bai Gun Gun had to intervene, as usual, by turning her into a handkerchief which he then hid in his sleeves.

Out of curiosity, I asked A Li why he had lost his temper over that and he said he would have held it in, but the cheeky girl had laughed so hard tears streamed down her face and to add insult to injury, had called him a wimp and dared him to give chase as she ran off - well, she asked for it.

I recall something that happened a few thousand years back when Gun Gun got into serious trouble and he had to kneel for three straight days before his mother, Feng Jiu finally pacified his father by making him plenty of candied foxes.

This time, however, the old man didn’t even bat an eyelid when he heard the mischief his daughter had caused probably because it wasn’t the first time and it won’t be her last.

He simply told her to clean up the mess she had created, personally apologise to the Heavenly Lords and sent her to her room to reflect on her actions. See, I told you, Di Jun definitely favours his daughter over his son.

How quickly has time passed - the little fox cub I had to often babysit is now all grown up and about the same age as her mother when she first entered Di Jun’s palace as a maid.

She is very much like her mother, playful, bright, creative, with a smile that can melt even the coldest of hearts - a trait she shares with other Qing Qiu women.

And I can see why Di Jun dotes on her so much. She spends time fishing with him, helps her father tend to the vegetable and fruit garden at the Holy Blue Sea and knows how to use her coquettish charm on her father, just like her mother frequently does.

Recently, I heard through the vines that some of her male classmates in Qing Qiu, where she is studying, have paid her more attention than they should have. It’s that age when the boys are starting to notice the girls. And it’s hard not to notice her, she had inherited her mother’s mesmerising beauty and her father’s intense stare. When she turns on her coquettish charm, even I give in, just like I did with her mother.

But then, guess what happened? Dong Hua Di Jun unexpectedly turned up in class one day and gave a Buddhist lecture on unwholesome thoughts and the right conduct using his Cang He sword as a pointer as he spoke. I heard from Feng Jiu that her daughter came home in tears that day, telling her father off for scaring off her playmates.

She wailed that she only had a few girls and Migu to play with now! Di Jun was about to retort but stopped when he caught sight of Feng Jiu glaring at him. Anyway, since then, the boys have stayed clear of her, though I wonder how long it would last before they regain their courage. It’s too hard to stay away from her, most of the time, she is the one leading them into mischief.

It’s not that Dong Hua Di Jun isn’t partial to Gun Gun. Perhaps it’s because he has greater expectations of his son. After all, the whole of Nine Heavens are aware that the boy inherited not only his father’s intelligence but his sharp tongue (or should I say poisonous) as well.

Everyone still remembers him as the little boy who told his father off for not letting him have salty cakes when he was barely three hundred years old. It became the talk throughout all of Nine Heavens, and amongst the officials and their fairy aides.

Gun Gun, with his long silver hair streaming loosely down his back is a looker himself. I don’t know what it is with the ladies, but I think they are attracted to his cold but handsome demeanour. It’s not often you catch him smiling, that’s only reserved for his family.

Oh, did I forget to mention, he is very protective of his sister, having to save the trouble-maker frequently, sometimes to the extent of covering up for her. Unlike his sister, however, he doesn’t thrive on attention and prefers solitude - we all know he inherited that from a certain old man...

If he’s not practising swordplay, you can see him with a book in hand or spot him playing Go with his father and occasionally Lian Song, and his calligraphy has received acclaim even at such a young age.

Di Jun enjoys spending time with him, creating pottery and forging new weapons at the Holy Blue Sea and the two can lose track of time when they are working on their favourite hobbies as they both get intense and engrossed. There was once they didn’t come home to Qing Qiu for five straight days which made Feng Jiu very cross.

In the end, both father and son had to placate her by improving their cooking. Though I think that’s more of a torture for them with their level of culinary expertise.

Well, this is all based on my observations as the Star Lord who compiles stories (as you know, my passion lies with the news, ahem), of course. You are most welcome to form your own opinions based on what you may have observed when Dong Hua Di Jun interacts with his children!

And if anyone asks, I am going to deny that Di Jun plays favourites. I still want to retain my position and my skin intact. I certainly do not want to bear the wrath of Cang He!
